Our color pallet utilized everything tropical… turquoise, pink , green, and bright orange. We started with a dark base linen and then layered the color from there. We found these fun grass skirts on sale at a local store.
What fun we had creating this centerpiece!! We wanted the Hawaiian/ Beach/ Surfer look... While an actual surf board would have been very cool, it's not really practical or cost effective. Our solution, a custom kickboard decorated with the Birthday girl's name and tropical flowers. To continue with our theme of Hawaiian beach, we brought in actual sand and sea shells. Since real tropical flowers weren't in the budget, we made some beautiful green paper flowers of our own! They worked perfectly with our theme. If you'd like to find out how to make these lovely flowers, click HERE to watch our dear friend Jenna Lee lead you through it!
You didn't think we'd put together a tablescape and leave out the fruit, did you?! Both delicious and decorative! This time: tropical fruit... what Luau would be complete with out it?? And since we were catering to fourteen year olds, we didn't over look the ever important sugar factor...
To get our party goers in the Luau frame of mind, they were greeted with Leis, grass skirts, and flip flops upon arrival.
To quench their thirst, guests were invited to step up to Kenzi's tiki bar. Drinks were served in coconut cups or margarita glasses with paper umbrellas... just to add to the tropical feeling!
Hands down the best part of event planning is spending time with precious people!!
